Introduction

A dump truck is a hydraulically operated box shaped bed that front lifts up and pivots at the rear.
There a are a few different types of dump trucks all customized for a particular use.
Standard Dump Trucks: The standard dump truck has a full truck chassis and the box body is attached to the main frame. The box is raised by a hydraulic piston at the front end of the frame and between the body and the cab. The tailgate either swings down, or can be lifted up and over the box body. The standard has one front axle and one or more rear axle. This truck is good for tight spaces, especially when compared to the larger volume semi-trailer dump trucks.
Articulated Dump Trucks: The difference between the articulated and the standard is the articulated has a hinge joint between the box body and the cab. But the cab is still a permanent feature and cannot be detached. These trucks are often called the modern scraper.
Transfer Dump Truck: Essentially this is differentiated by the additional separate trailer. This means that you have the option of increasing the load for various jobs, but can still keep the flexibility of the smaller vehicle.
Truck and Pup: Similar situation to the Transfer Dump Truck, although the second trailer also comes with it’s own hydraulic ram and can therefore be unload by itself. Super Dump Truck: This is a dump truck with a Strong Arm trailing axle.
Double and Triple Trailer Bottom Dump Trucks: These trucks come with 3-axle tractors that pull a 2-axle trailer that come equipped with a clam shell dump gate.
Side Dump Trucks: Considered to be close to the Semi Trailer Bottom Dump Truck, these trucks come with a hydraulic ram that tilts the body to it’s side to unload, giving a rapid unload.
